the big news: a new song.

and in other news, I'm thinking about migrating this site to use mod_rails. I've only heard good things about it, and this site is so non-consequential it wouldn't be a huge deal if it were down for a bit while I figured things out :-)

February 19th was my brother Nathan's birthday. He's in Italy and I couldn't really give him a physical, touchable gift, so I wrote him a [simple] song.

This could be the beginning of the end of the silence from the philharmonic. My creative juices are flowing (and tasting sweet) again. If all goes well, you'll soon be able to drink of those aforementioned juices.

To all those who visited the site over the past few days, you may have noticed that it was down. Let's just blame this on my cheap web-host and call it even. Things should be fixed (for now) and, hopefully, I'll be moving the site to my new server soon.

BIG NEWS in the philharmonic world. our fearless leader has decided that this group is his true calling in life. he wishes to dedicate his every minute and breath to it, and in order to do that, he must give up other crutches in his life. crutches like a job. crutches like a consistent paycheck that he must slave for 8-11 hours a day for. jobs take too much time. jobs take away from time that can and should be given to this life--the life of music and melodies.

so, phil burrows has quit his job. monday, may 7th will be his last day and he will then be able to dedicate the amount of time that he should to this venture. and it will be an adventure for those of you who can hold on for the ride. get ready for that something big. new songs will drop like rain in the jungle. they will drown you with their flood of emotions and will whisper in your ear with sweet harmonic voices of change and evolution of life and beautiful progression as the philharmonic boldly goes into a world where nothing is predictable except the unpredictability of future events.

well as far as i can tell, things should be working just fine now on the website. i've fixed the problems with commenting and i've done some things that should speed the site up a bit.

now the philharmonic can get back to the thing he does best -- singing and harmonizing and entertaining and innovating.

well i kinda just threw this thing together in a matter of a few evenings, so there are still some kinks in the website that need to be worked out.

one major one is commenting on songs (and maybe blog posts). any comments you submit are saved, but because of some caching that i've tried to implement to speed the site up, they may not show up. that's my fault and i'm working on fixing that. other than that, i think things should be working okay. if you run into something that doesn't seem to work like you expect it to or if there's a broken link somewhere, just send me an email at the address listed in blue and the bottom of the page. alternatively, you can just comment on this post. your choice.
